As a brand manager across portfolios such as Channel O, Vuzu, VUZU AMP and Mzansi Magic Music within the broadcast industry, Lowena’s work both as a marketer and events have seen her becoming a sought after specialist in music, the youth segment and premium markets.VUZU AMP Brand ManagerLaunching this new offering on the Dstv bouquet, my duties included working closely with our agency BlackRiver FC to develop a brand strategy, Brand CI and launch campaign. The ATL launch campaign consisted of a brand TVC, radio, various print executions, a digital roll-out and PR plan. Over and above the launch, key on air campaigns include: The Flash, The Real Jozi A-Listers, Vampire Diaries, Black-Ish, Project Runway, How to Get Away with Murder, Pretty Little Liars, So You Think You Can Dance, The Real housewives (franchise) and Ayeye.From a maintenance level, I work closely with Clearwater, Monarchy and Wicked Pixels (on air agencies) to produce idents and monthly promos of key programs, to ensure that on air communication about the content and the treatment are aligned to brand strategy/CI. Digital platforms and social media play a very active role within the brand DNA; and from a daily operational level, I work closely with my digital team to ensure constant engagement with viewers, and content promotion.It is my responsibility to oversee media buying and placements. I also manage the marketing budget.Vuzu Brand ManagerVuzu continues to be a brand that influences South African youth and popular culture. I was responsible for the launch and execution of campaigns for the following shows: Forever Young, Nonhle Goes to Hollywood, Dineo’s Diary and Mo Love. These campaigns consisted of a TVC, radio spot, print and digital execution. I also rolled out successful on the ground launches and press conferences. Brand campaigns included: TV for TV Heads, Out Of the Box TV and Beyonce in New York Competition.I have had the privilege to work with some of the best agencies in the country, namely Ogilvy & Mather, Metropolitan Republic, Clearwater and Birthmark.As a youth brand, association is extremely important; I have overseen partnerships with the following properties: Pop Bottles, ESPN Celebrity Basketball Games, Miller Boomtown at the Durban July and the J&B Met. My role includes managing these partnerships expectations (from a media barter perspective), sponsorship agreements, and branding and activations opportunities.
