IMEXSA News Update and Call for Applications/Submissions
The first part of the year has now ended and we are officially in the second half of 2017. So much has happened and we have a lot to share with you. We started the year with the 4th Annual SA Indies Music Week, an event which was undoubtedly a major success. Once again Mzansi’s talent was showcased over the 5 days at Gold Reef City, Johannesburg.
Then we had our missions to South by South West (SXSW) in the US, Primavera in Spain and Midem in France. All these had their own highlights, and in some instances, a few lowlights. In the midst of it all, we also had IMEXSA director being made part of the the international selection committee for the Annual Midem Artist Accelerator Programme. That was another highlight and also a major boost not only for IMEXSA but to the whole country’s music industry. It was another indication of the impact IMEXSA is having in the music industry worldwide. We will be sharing a full report for all these at the end of July. So be on the lookout.
The question could be on what’s next? Well, we now have a call for submissions for 2018 events. We once again call on export ready companies/enterprises to prepare and submit their applications for the 2018 calendar of events, and thus stand a chance of being part of the selected delegates to attend these international exhibitions, starting with SXSW in March 2018.
To apply, interested parties are required to download and complete an application form CLICK HERE . Completed forms together with all the required documentations needs to be submitted via email to IMEXSA. This needs to be done on or before Tuesday the 15th of August 2017. Full details on what documents are required and where to submit them, are all on the website. Everything needs to be submitted electronically. For music samples, applicants should include online links to their artists music but can also send their CD’s to the IMEXSA’s offices. A valid tax clearance certificate is needed as part of the application package. It’s also the responsibility of each applicant to always have a valid tax clearance if requested. The application process could take up to six months and hence all applicants are advised to immediately apply for a new certificate if theirs expires. IMEXSA can at any stage of the application process request an applicant to resubmit a tax clearance if theirs has expired. Failure to submit an updated one could result in the application being declined. Successful applicants will be required to pay a registration fee of about R2000.
